Here’s a new design that’s debuting at RB Studio & Gallery.
I wanted to create a different frog design that was a little simpler and more friendly than my original froggy. I’m very pleased with how this one turned out! You can see by the two different frogs how much the finished rug can vary even using the same design, so they’re all just a little bit special.
Happy June, and happy Pride Month!! The theme for this month is snails, as voted on by my Patrons! In honour of Pride Month, I’m including a sticker sheet of Pride-inspired snails with every physical rewards tier this month. These little guys are 2″ on the longest side, so just a bit smaller than my usual 2.5″ stickers I sell year round. (They look so mini compared to the JUMBO snails haha!)

I thought it would be fun to palette swap my rainbow orange fox for a rainbow silver fox, and this little blue friend was born. It was very difficult matching the purple for this one, but I think it turned out pretty well in the end.
Here’s one of my latest rugs. I wanted to try my orange tabby colour scheme with higher contrast, and a tiger seemed like the perfect subject! I also experimented with shaping the outlines to make them cleaner, and that’s definitely something I’d like to keep practicing.

Here’s a little art dump of all the work I’ve been sitting on and not posting. Some of these were xmas gifts and so I couldn’t show before now, and others are pieces I’ve just been too busy to post. I’m especially happy with the ladybug somehow.
I hope you’ve all had an amazing end of 2021, and here’s looking forward to a fantastic 2122!
Here’s another take on one of these beautiful little turtles. I just love the red on their faces; they’re so charismatic!
It’s been soooo long since I’ve painted on wood. I forgot how much fun it is! I tried a few different things with this one. I used a white ground instead of the transparent one I normally use. I put it only under the frog, so you can still see the wood but the frog really pops. I also used ink instead of watercolours. As it turns out, ink is really pale on the watercolour ground and acts more as a stain. It worked fine for this piece, but I won’t be able to use it for darker areas. I actually did dip into the watercolours to add some finishing touches at the very end. I learned a lot working on this little guy, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. I definitely need to invest in some larger wood sheets in the near future.
