Last Batch of Tabby Mini Rugs!

More mini rugs! This time adult tabby cats. I was planning on making these guys calicos, but the tiny rug size was too intimating for me haha. Tabbies are my favourite kitties, so I hope you’re not too bored seeing them again and again.

Once again, these 7″ rugs are available at the Capital Art Sale! Check it out before the sale ends Sunday!

Dutch Bunny Mini Rugs

Trying something new for these mini rugs: Dutch bunnies! I don’t think Dutchies come in brown, but we can pretend. These little friends are about 7″ tall and have a little ribbon on the back for easy hanging. They’ll be up for sale at the Capital Art Sale here in Fredericton starting this Wednesday! I will not be making this design again, so be sure to grab one if you want one!

Leopard Rug and Art Sale!

Here’s my latest big rug design: A leopard! I had so much fun with my tiger design last year that I wanted to do another big cat. Leopards are so gorgeous and elegant! Definitely one of my top favourite wild cats.
I went with a lighter green-blue-purple gradient for the stripes to really emphasise the colours. I find going too dark with the pattern tends to wash out the overall colours of the rug.

This rug will be available at the Capital Art Sale at 1150 Prospect St starting Wednesday, November 29th! Please feel free to swing by and see it in person, and check out all the other amazing art by local artists while you’re there!

Final Release! Medium Husky Rugs

These two medium sized huskies make up the full set of husky rugs! The original, large size was a commission, and I adjusted the template for these medium rugs and some minis.

I had a lot of fun playing with the colours on these guys. I really love the chocolate/orange husky (with a light pink nose!), but the classic black/blue is really striking in person, too.

These are the final rugs I’ll be making with this design, but I hope to revisit huskies again in the future!

New Medium Sized Rugs! Foxes!

Here’s a new smaller fox rug design! I’ve used this design for a pair of larger rugs, but this is their premier as medium rugs. The little tongues and noses were a bit of a challenge at this size, but I think they turned out pretty well!
Do you prefer the classic orange fox or the more flamboyant silver fox design?

New Design! Medium Tabby Kitten Rugs

Another new design for a well-loved subject: Tabby kittens! Most of my tabby designs are based on my two ginger cats, but this one is based on a kitten I saw at the local cat cafe, Purrfect Cup.
I love how kittens have cartoonishly large ears and eyes. They’re so goofy and charming.

New Design! Medium Rainbow Seal Rugs

Here’s a new design I’m premiering this year: Seals! You miiiight have noticed that I’ve been on a real seal kick. I couldn’t not make a seal rug design! These little guys are based loosely off a harbour seal. I’d love to do a larger, more realistic take on these little guys some day.
Do you prefer the grey/blue or brown/orange variation? They both look so cheerful and friendly, I can’t decide!

Retiring Pattern! Tree Frog Mini Rugs

Some lil tree frogs!
I’m retiring this frog design from my medium rugs, but I thought it would make a cute mini rug! I decided to keep with block colours instead of rainbow for these little guys. Their tiny size and relatively complex shape would make rainbow versions a little too busy imo. After I finished these, I was kicking myself for not making an aqua version to look like a White’s tree frog. Maybe next time…
Do you have a preference between the light and darker greens? Do you think a rainbow design would work for these little guys?

New Class! Stylizing Subjects for Rug Tufting

I’m so excited to announce my newest online class: Stylizing Subjects for Rug Tufting.

This is a mini class (about 15 minutes long) discussing designing your own cartoony rugs. This class is for anyone who wants to start making their own simplified rug designs. It covers using reference photos and how to use shape language and basic colour theory to create a dedicated mood with your rugs. It is designed as a supplement to my Beginner Rug Tufting class, but it can also work as a stand-alone introduction to rug tufting.

I really hope this class will help tufters who rely on other people’s designs to branch out and start creating their own, completely unique works of art!

Check it out on Skillshare here.
