Small Tux Cat Rugs

Mini Orange and Blue Cat Rugs

These little kitties were another experiment to see how much detail I can cram into a tiny rug! They measure about 8” across and are created from the same pattern as my latest 30” rainbow tabbies! I had to simplify the markings a bit, but they turned out surprisingly well!

Ink and Watercolour Tux Cat Portrait

This gorgeous kitty is a commission for one of my very first rainbow portrait clients! She wanted a portrait of her newest kitty in a similar style to her other two which I painted waaaaaay back when I was just learning watercolour and really leaning on ink work.

It was incredibly fun to create details with ink again. I’d really love to go back to exploring incorporating ink as a supporting element in my rainbow portrait, but we’ll see how far it goes.

Small and Mini Blue Cat Rugs

Just like the orange kitty rugs, these two are an experiment with scaling down my larger 30” rug design. I think the bigger blue kitty turned out the best of the four cats, but the little one is pretty darn cute, too. It’s amazing how a simple palette swap can change the whole mood of a piece.

One of these kitties has already found a home, but the other is available at RB Studio & Gallery here in Fredericton!

Small and Mini Orange Cat Rugs

This mini rug was a bit of an experiment. I wanted to see how the design would change if I adapted it from a 30” rug to 15” and 7” versions. I definitely had to simplify the markings for both of the smaller versions, but they turned out surprisingly nicely! I’ll definitely have to keep pushing the detail and see what I can do in these mini rugs.

Cat and Dog Micro Rugs

These adorable little guys are more micro-sized rugs! I free-handed the tortie in some extra space I had around another rug, and it’s extra small at just under 6” on the longest side. I created a template for the two tabby rugs, but they ballooned a bit up to 7”. They feel a little hefty for tree ornaments, but they’d still be very cute wall decor! The puppers are also around 7” but are quite a bit lighter because of their shape.

The blue tortie is available for sale, but the blue tabby is a door prize at the Capital Art Sale running at 1111 Regent St. Today is the last day, so please be sure to check them out!

Calico Rug

This is very probably my favourite rug I’ve created so far. I experimented a lot with carving the yarn after the rug was tufted and glued, and that gives this piece especially sharp, clean details. I also just really enjoy the balance of colours. This design was based off a kitty I met at Purrfect Cup a couple years ago. The little kitty found her forever home long ago, but there are always more kitties in need of loving homes.

This rug will be available at the Capital Art Sale, starting tonight, and running December 7-10 at 1111 Regent St.
