rug tufting

January Mini Rugs

Here are some mini rugs I worked on over January. They’re about 14″ on the longest side and are designed as little wall hangings. It was very tricky to adapt tufting to this smaller size. I’d definitely like to figure out adding some line work to his small size.

Nonoha Rug

Here’s my latest rug, another of my pup, Nonoha. That’s the full set of my cats and dogs complete for my personal collection. I’m looking forward to working on some new designs and trying some smaller rugs for wall decor.

Rugs Page

Sorry for the radio silence lately. I’ve been hecking busy! I’ve just added a new page to the site for rugs. Check it out here to see what I’ve been making for the past month: RUGS

All of the rugs listed have found homes except the cat in this blog post. That one is going up for charity auction at Isaac’s Way here in Fredericton to help pay for art lessons for underprivileged kids!

Sparc Rug

Here’s a rug of my kitty, Sparc. I designed this as a companion piece to my Scuzzy rug; I used the same colours but flipped the gradient. I think Sparc’s white spots turned out really striking.

Ace the Cat Rug

Here’s a rug of my in-laws’ kitty, Ace. The colours look a bit darker and richer in person, but hopefully you can see the details well enough in this photo. It was really fun designing a rug in my cartoony style; trying to fit certain dimensions was an interesting challenge.

I’m now accepting commissions for custom rugs! If you’re interested, please check out these listings for pricing and info:

Maulkin Rainbow Rug

Here’s the rug I created just before my Scuzzy cat rug: Rainbow Maulkin! I had so much fun playing with this rug! It was my first try fading between colours, and I think it looks really fun. I feel like it captures Maulkin’s goofy personality really well. My camera had some issues picking up the purple, but it’s actually a nice royal purple beside the royal blue.

Fox Rug

I’ve been getting into rug tufting lately. I bought a tufting gun and built a frame last month, and this is my second attempt at tufting. This little fox is a gift for my partner. It’s 30″ wide and backed with fleece (I have a lot on hand). I attached some D-rings on the back to make it a wall hanging, and I’m very pleased with how it came out! It was incredibly fun, and surprisingly relaxing, to create.
